Deneb L. Pirrone is an author, inventor, and award-winning product developer who was born in Buffalo, NY in 1982, the second son of public school teachers Frank and Rebecca. Deneb followed in his older brother Rigel's footsteps, attending the Olmsted Gifted and Talented Program and then high school at City Honors School where he graduated in 2000. Deneb continued his education at the University at Buffalo where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration magna cum laude from the Honors Program and a Master of Business Administration with Distinction from the School of Management.
Deneb started working on fiction projects in late August 2009 after receiving encouragement from his editor CM Doering. Deneb's fiction is primarily in the Fantasy Noir and Sci-Fi Noir genres - fantasy and science fiction short stories written in the hard-boiled or Noir style. Short story manuscripts in working form include "Fever & High Summer," "The Funeral," "Gunfighter," "A Dog Named Hate," and "The Man from Lalande." Deneb is also working on several other short stories while focusing mostly on world building.
Deneb's major non-fiction work is the business textbook Entrepreneurship: Foundations, coauthored with Professors Joseph Salamone and Muriel Anderson, and published by the original Meszaros International Center of Entrepreneurship in 2006. The book is translated into two languages and is used as a companion text for small business certification programs in Romania, Hungary, and the United States. Other non-fiction writing includes several business plans for entrepreneurial startups and new lines of business, dozens of press releases, and marketing copy for the brands Black Rock Riverside Alliance, Catholic Charities of Buffalo, Servotronics, Ontario Knife Company, Robeson Cutlery, Agilite, Old Hickory, Onzo Guitars, Edmund Scientific, and X-treme Geek.
Deneb lives in Buffalo, NY where he is a small business owner while working as the head of compliance & quality at Catholic Charities of Buffalo and volunteering as President and Board Member of Black Rock Riverside Alliance. Deneb was twice awarded the President's Volunteer Service Award by the White House for his pro bono service to the Western New York small business community. An accomplished product developer, Deneb is a codesigner of five design patents and several of the new products he developed won industry awards including two of the prestigious Best of the Best awards from Field & Stream magazine. In addition to writing, Deneb enjoys reading, gaming, history, music, travel, and movies.
